Process

I drew upon the name and moodboard for inspiration on the logo. Creating a vector illustration of a Scottish thistle to use as the main imagery in the logo. To add interest created a knockout version that bleeds out of the circle in reverse. For the logotype was inspired by vintage lettering styles and signs, but I wanted to modernize it a bit. So opted for a more modern serif but applied a drop shadow effect and thin outline.

For the menu created a folding leather menu that would have the primary logo embossed on the cover. The interior utilized the brand pattern on the verso, while the main menu page is on the recto. For the cocktail listings each cocktail is contained in a frame which includes the drink name, main ingredients and then a vintage style sketch of the drink to the right of the name/description.

For the business card, the front side would contain the embossed primary logo (matching the menu) which the back contains the needed information in the “Linen” brand color to make sure that the type is legible.
